In 1975, Robert was called upon by the U of A to co-chair the construction of the largest authentic Japanese Garden in Canada. The Kurimoto Garden (a ten million dollar project) is an example of what Robert can accomplish when he devotes time, energy and creativity to an initiative. He has traveled many times to Japan at his own expense to get industry and government on board for this significant and wonderful project. These unique, extensive Zen-Buddhistic gardens have created an opportunity for all Albertans to become closer to Asian culture while enjoying the tranquility of the exquisite Kurimoto Garden.
